So I picked up an 18-card pack of '08 UD baseball series 2. I love full bleed cards and I'm looking forward to UD '09. Anyways, let's see what we get...
You can check out the '09 designs here:
Upper Deck
Topps
424 - Brian Roberts
Wow I didn't realize he had 50 steals last year.
628 - Khalil Greene
456 - Orlando Cabrera
UD got lazy and used the same pic of him on the front and back. Meh. Must have been the only one of him as a White Sox they had.
607 - Adam Eaton
I love the daytime action shot on this one.
672 - Jason Botts
536 - Gary Matthews
Great photo on this one. I'm still mad the Bucs let this guy get away before he blossomed.
585 - Kei Igawa
694 - Ryan Zimmerman
624 - Tadahito Iguchi
560 - Livan Hernandez
698 - Aaron Boone
667 - Rocco Baldelli
Another card with the same photo on front and back. At least it's a cool spring training shot with two guys just chilling in the background.
576 - Ryan Church
704 - Brian Bocock RC
753 - Huston Street A's Team Checklist
One thing I don't like about the team checklists and season highlights is that they don't look any different than the regular cards.
745 - Kevin Youkilis Season Highlights
These cards serve no useful purpose. We get an extra card of Youkie with three sentences on the back to explain that he didn't make an error at first last year. Thanks Upper Deck.
725 - Matt Tupman RC
SQ-40 - Daisuke Matsuzaka Starquest Rare
Hey nice pull.
Well there you have it. Not bad for 3 bucks.

My only problem with this years UD is the names on the front of the cards are hard to see. When you figure out what you need for Series 2 and Updates and Highlights let me know. I have a bumload of doubles I can send you.
1. I saw at Wal Mart that you can get an entire set of Upper Deck Series 1 and Series 2 (500+ cards, I believe) for just $29.99! AND it comes with a guaranteed hit (a random game used jersey card)! For comparison's sake, it costs $19.99 for a blaster (which is what, 10 packs, 12 at most?) So a complete set for $30, with jersey, or 1/5 of the set, with jersey, for $20?
2. Also, to speak to cardboard addiction's post, I really think the "First Edition" version of UD was pretty sweet. No foil on the names (and thus easy to read) as well as easy to buy ($.99 per pack). Not sure how complete of a set the First Edition featured, but those are some pretty sweet cards to consider if you don't care about the "hits."

Open these in separate windows, then alt+tab between them.
Hooray for first edition!
I gotta agree with ya Dave. The first edition look better than the regular set cause you can actually read the names.
